Catch me before a fall

Job ID: 33673612

Budget: $250 – $750 AUD

Anyway I've been pretty busy atm in the Northern Territory I had 3 police mates commit suicide.  3 in 2 months.

Basically I'm in the process of being an advocate for police mental health and helping provide a voice highlighting the need for better support facilities, services and recovery information for police members families and friends. Also hoping to look into getting more information about worker's compensation to members so they know the whole process from an authentic approach. You know been there done that I know sort of think.
I think the most important thing is that when your in a dark hole and there's no hope or future hopefully my story can show that adversity, and some hard work there is a future and not all is lost.

Just a thought.
So I've basically spoken out about the lack of support , services etc for police and 1st responders in the nt.

The idea I've come up with is to become some sort of conduit between the police department/ police Association and other organisations. I've had alot of feedback from the 1st interview and members obviously want the right information ie workers compensation scheme how to go about it.
Im putting an enquiry to the Northern Territory government to select a committee to investigate police suicides and mental health support facilities services for 1st responders within the nt.
My main ideas for the project would be to highlight the issues 1st responders face from everyday living, stress, paying bills, family life, dwaling with kid's, finances the work place stresses, work career advancement going for jobs missing out, obviously trauma impact, low morale, heavily overloaded with work lack of resources, too much overtime, no one else to fill the position everything adds up and takes its toll and eventually cracks from in police and 1st responders, people are afraid to speak out and talk about their feelings because they no longer understand, identify or what they are feeling anymore from years of numbing it out to cope with being a 1st responder.

I think more needs to be done before the treatment stage, preventing people getting PTSD and mental health problems is ultimately has to same if not more importance as find the cure.
