Need a 2000 word Finance law essay topic:

"Banking Royal COmmission Recommendation 5.6: Changing culture and governance states:

All financial services entities should, as often as reasonably possible, take proper steps to:

assess the entity’s culture and its governance;
identify any problems with that culture and governance;
deal with those problems and determine whether the changes it has made have been effective.
(Australian Banking Association 2019)
Question: Can legislation effectively change or improve the culture in the financial services industry? (Pay particular attention to banks/authorised deposit-taking institutions [ADIs]).

Must include law, legislation, references bibliograph.

* this requires you to (1) discuss the observation; (2) tell us your opinion about whether you think the existing laws are effective in preventing the problem in the observation; and (3) discuss your opinion.

Tip : Make sure you get your citations spot on - Australian Guide to Legal Citations 4

For some this is the first law unit you are undertaking and this may be a change to what you're used to. Referencing and citations are not difficult to get right if you provide enough time to go through your assignment at the end and clean it up. A few key things to look out for:

Use footnotes. Referencing should use superscript (small number at the top. eg.1) and it should be linked to a footnote at the bottom of the page. Microsoft word does this automatically via the footnote function.
All superscript should appear after punctuation if punctuation is used. (Rule 1.1.2 AGLC4)
All footnotes should be closed with a full stop. (Rule 1.1.4 AGLC4)
For cases see (Rule 2 AGLC4).
Use authorised reported cases if they exist. See (Rule 2.2.2 AGLC4)
For statute/legislation see (Rule 3 AGLC4)
The essay should have a Bibliography and this ideally should follow the structure in the AGLC4. (Rule 1.13 AGLC4)
Legislation in the Bibliography does not need to list all sections, only the Act itself. (see example in Rule 1.13 AGLC4)
All references to cases and legislation in the body of the text/essay should follow the AGLC4 (not just footnotes)
To save words in your word count, you ideally should abbreviate things that are repeated. eg. National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth) (NCCP).
To save words, you do not need to put the whole case in the body of the text but the entire citation should appear in the footnote. eg. "the case of Momentum1 ......"
1 Momentum Productions Pty Ltd v Lewarne (2009) 174 FCR 268.

Tip: The use of sources

Primary sources should be used as authority where possible. This includes legislation and cases (and the Hayne Royal Commission report if you are referring to the findings of the report).

Journal articles, books, web articles etc are secondary. However, unlike Assignment 2A, you will likely find yourself using secondary sources more than primary sources as you can draw opinions and observations of others through these documents.

Tip: Where to get ideas

Journal articles are your friends. Drawing opinions from learned colleagues is not unusual for a research essay. Make sure you reference all ideas drawn from these articles to ensure you do not inadvertently plagiarise.
