Stormwater Engineer for Flood Control Intervention

I am in need of a qualified Engineer or Hydrological Engineer to provide expert commentary for a council application. The focus of this project will be specifically on stormwater management, with an emphasize on flood control.

Your specific tasks will include:

- Inspection and analysis of the existing engineered stormwater system
- Provide assurance that an increased impermeable surface area won't impact downstream flooding risk

In this case, your expert knowledge and experience within the realm of stormwater and flood management are paramount. Experience within council applications or reports would also be beneficial. Your ability to evaluate and reassure on the flood control measures due to an expected increase of impermeable surface area is critical for the success of this application.

The application is for a small shop in the Adelaide Hills adjacent a stormwater swale.

The application includes 15 car parks areas that will increase runoff. These are significantly elevated above the swale.

Council is seeking confirmation that the development will not cause flooding beyond the property.

The proposal includes a carpark to the rear of the building which is proposed to be built up and
retained with a 1.2m high retaining wall. This structure is going close to the stormwater swale and as
such Council is seeking confirmation from a suitably qualified hydrological engineer that the proposed
works are not going to restrict the flow of water and create flooding issues. PO 1.1 in the Hazards
(Flooding-Evidence Required) Overlay seeks that development is sited, designed and constructed to
minimise the risk of entry of potential floodwaters where the entry of flood waters is likely to result in
undue damage to or compromise ongoing activities within buildings.
