Senior Thesis
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
So, my senior thesis is on medical providers and how they have a moral obligation to keep patient confidentiality when one of their HIV patients is putting at risk their partners. My stance is that providers should not have the right to breach confidentiality. I got some feedback on my first drag and it was bad. I have not created a thesis and I need help with creating one as well as the entire paper. The paper should be 30-35 pages in length. I will be adding my rough draft for the first section. It still needs the science portion complete, along with my professor's annotated corrections. I am also including my outline. Here are the professors' requirements.
The senior thesis is designed to allow each student to apply the principles of ethics and theology to an area of scientific interest. In addition, this exercise will encourage the student to expand his or her scientific understanding of a specific topic.
In order to meet these goals: Each student is required to write a paper on a specific scientific topic, in which theological and ethical considerations are made about the topic.
The paper must be a minimum of 22 pages (~5000 words) and the maximum length is 35 pages (double-spaced, 12 point font, decent margins, ~8000 words). should include a clearly defined thesis and a well-supported position. Most acceptable papers are ~30 pages (7000- 7500 words). In addition, six specific sections should be included:
1) Introduction (minimum 1 pg.)
12) Scientific (minimum 10 pgs.)
3) Ethical (minimum 5 pgs.)
4) Theological (minimum 5 pgs.)
5) Conclusion (minimum 1 pg.).
6) Literature Cited section which is NOT counted as any part of the page count.
(NOTE: Pages are FULL pages!)
All of these sections should point to and support your thesis. The Science section must set up the issues to be discussed in the Ethics and Theology sections. The Ethics and Theology sections must include major opposing views. This paper should be written to a professional audience that is familiar with science/ethics/theology topics.
A grading rubric is provided on page 9 of this syllabus to aid in your understanding of the grading criteria. You must address/cover/include each of the points covered in the paper!
Once the topic for your thesis has been declared by submitting your thesis proposal, it cannot be changed. Therefore, be sure to research your thesis topic thoroughly before commitment.
