• MLO3 - Formulate a suitable topic, frame research questions and propose a relevant methodology
• MLO4 - Show ability to critically analyse data and tease out meaningful conclusions
• MLO5 - Communicate research outcomes effectively.
• This assignment requires you to develop a research proposal (2,500 words) on a suitable topic related to managing in the hospitality and tourism industry.
The structure / content of the proposal should be as follows:
• Background & Introduction – Describe the research problem, issue(s), context of the study and some indication of why the study needs to be done (rationale);Introduce the (proposed) research question (MLO3).
• Aim and objectives – specify the aim(s) and objectives (MLO3);
• Literature – key literatures that will be important to your study, previous studies that have examined some aspects of the topic that are important to understand what you intend to investigate, and indication that your focus has not been covered before (MLO4);
• Methods – specific indication of how you will conduct the study, sample, data collection and analysis techniques (MLO3);
• Impact/significance or implications to management – e.g. the expected outcomes of the research, implications this study could have, and who benefits from the results (MLO5).
