Agriculture is one of the major suppliers of food for the human race. Many farm machines are powered by fossil fuels, which lead to emissions of greenhouse gases and in turn, exacerbate climate change. The best options are renewable resources such as solar wind, biomass, tidal, geothermal, small-scale hydro, biofuels, and wave-generated electricity, etc., to mitigate the climate change caused by fossil fuels. Agricultural production is low due to the scarcity of water and electricity, the time to increase crop production per unit area to save the growing population worldwide. An optimal approach is required to maintain food and energy protection. The pumping system for solar PV water is one of sustainable development and is the best alternative to the traditional pumping system, with cost-effective use in rural areas. This paper reviews the components of the photovoltaic pump system, the factors influencing the efficiency of the system, the evaluation of performance, the optimization of the system, the effective irrigation pumping system, and its applications in different regions. Finally, this paper allows researchers to carry out their work on advanced SPVWPS updates and explores the available schemes.
