Project objective: The objective of this project is to develop a practical approach to information
security risk assessment that can be used by organizations of all sizes.
Project deliverables: The project deliverables will include a methodology, a toolkit, and a case study.
Submission: 1/12/2024
• Submit a copy of the report in Word format, along with a copy of the toolkit.
• Summary of your report in PPTX format.
Project methodology
The methodology will be based on the principles of risk management and will include the following steps:
• Identify assets: The first step is to identify the organization's assets, both tangible and intangible.
• Identify threats: The second step is to identify the threats that could pose a risk to the organization's assets.
• Assess vulnerabilities: The third step is to assess the vulnerabilities of the organization's assets to the identified threats.
• Calculate risk scores: The fourth step is to calculate the risk scores for each asset, based on the likelihood of a threat occurring and the impact of a threat if it were to occur.
• Prioritize risks: The fifth step is to prioritize the risks, based on the risk scores.
• Develop recommendations: The sixth step is to develop recommendations for mitigating
the risks.
Project toolkit (Optional): The toolkit will include a spreadsheet that can be used to automate the risk assessment process.
