Master's Practical Work Project Guidance
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Students on a master’s level program are required to produce a significant piece of written practical work as a part of their course. Traditionally the university follows a theoretical research module fulfilled by a dissertation module. However, due to the high demand in the job market for practical work this course has focused on an application- based piece of work. The idea is that the task will emulate a task that might be called upon to do in practice and the exercise will include a realistic practical document for this purpose.
Module Aims
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
1. Understand the practical application of the content of the previous studied modules from the program.
2. Carry out independent system analysis from the initial strategic assessment until the system design/evaluation or building data dashboards.
3. Apply the theoretical knowledge to the realistic experience to reflect practice.
4. Appreciate how an understanding of practicable norms and drivers combines with
academic content in producing a practical document.
Nature of the Assessment
The assessment will involve an assessment of your current system at work or you come up with an alternative case (be creative), this will require students to advice their clients in writing how they intend to analysis the system practicing information and knowledge studied in all courses. They will submit a written project that will include a strategic outline and project management skills, they will showcase theory studied in all areas of the master’s program.
Students are expected to draw on knowledge gained from all modules studied in addition to their own independent research. They will need to combine this with practical experience when possible.
The document should be between 12,000-15,000 words.
