Entry-Level Psych/Crim Resume Upgrade

I already have a one-page résumé that covers my psychology and criminology background, but it reads more like a class assignment than a professional document. It also has 2 years of my retail experience with personal skill but it it quite wordy and feels unprofessional. I’m aiming it at behavioral technician openings and similar mental-health support roles, so I need the content and layout to speak directly to recruiters in that space.

Here’s what matters most:
• Dual focus — psychology and criminology — should be obvious at a glance without looking cluttered. add certain knowledge from classes (if it is expected in a professional resume)- DSM-5 material, cognitive behaviors like memory/retention/etc., research methods and ethics.
• Relevant coursework is one of my strongest assets right now, so those classes must be showcased in a way that feels like practical preparation, not just a list of subjects.
-rewrite the list of skills i gained from retail experience. Reduce repetition and focus on the skills i developed that would help in a behavior centered field.
• Any phrasing should echo the competencies employers scan for in behavioral-health settings (client observation, data collection, de-escalation skills, familiarity with treatment plans, etc.) while staying 100 % truthful to what I’ve actually done.
• Modern, ATS-friendly formatting: clean fonts, balanced white space, keyword-rich headings for quick machine parsing.
• Final files delivered in both editable DOCX and ready-to-send PDF.

-I also took a class called FACS for a semester in high school where i had to volunteer outside of class for credit. also, during the class period i would go to an elementary/ middle school to help children who were struggling mentally as a sort of big sibling program if that can be added to the resume.

If you have experience tailoring entry-level résumés for psychology or criminology graduates, I’d love your guidance on tightening language, ordering sections for maximum impact, and generally making the document look like I belong on a mental-health team from day one.
