Step 2: Find an article that discusses the representation of the child or childhood of your chosen policy. The article could be a news article, a feature article, an opinion piece/editorial, a research article, a review article, an interview article (e.g. with an educator/policymaker/academic), or a reflexive article (e.g. a blog post by an early childhood practitioner).
Step 3: Write the review.
Some of the key elements that should be incorporated in this critical policy review include but are not limited to:
A clear statement of the purpose of the review.
An explanation of why the chosen government policy and article are relevant to the representation of children or childhood.
Which aspects of the portrayal of the children in the article are relevant to the policy
A detailed examination of how the policy and article represent childhood.
An evaluation of the assumptions, values, and implications of these representations.
