Editing an Academic Essay
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am the curator of an art exhibition on language; the show is primarily visual art centered; however, I include a linguist (Ph.D. in Spanish Luso-Brazilian languages) who elaborates on the American term "Latinx" it about 1900 words. We are both Latinas, close friends, and fellow scholars, and she is having difficulty understanding (somewhat) what I am asking of her for the essay. I need a fresh set of eyes to recalibrate her understanding. The first goal of the article is that it is universal; the audience isn't innately American or English speaking. In my opinion, the essay lacks a universality to people who are not American and further non-western. I need a broad conceptual analysis of what she has to lead her to a more fruitful, general, worldly application of her thoughts. She also doesn't seem to utilize her academic muscle as much as she should. I believe a non-American English speaker who is disassociated from these American cultural norms will ask more probing and challenging questions.
