Drafting Impact Narratives and Interviewing city officials about sustainable urban development
Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 USD
I am seeking a well-versed and professional freelancer to help me with a challenging yet critical task. Your role will entail interviewing officials from C40 Cities Finance Facilities (CFF) partner cities. These officials are people who had the chance to work with CFF in developing one of their city's urban climate infrastructure projects to finance-readiness. From these interviews, we're keen to:
- Gather invaluable case studies to draft compelling impact narratives.
Our main focus is:
- To highlight the effectiveness of CFF in making climate infrastructure projects finance-ready.
The narratives should be:
- Professional, engaging, and concise, effectively communicating the achievements of CFF to a broad audience.
Your portfolio should demonstrate your experience with conducting interviews and drafting narratives. Prior experiences in urban development, sustainable development, international cooperation, environmental studies, or related fields are important. A high degree of professionalism and ability to engage with senior officials is crucial. Your written English must be impeccable, and your narrative drafting skills should be top-notch.
OUR EXPECTED ACTIVITIES can be described as following:
Activity 1: Plan a form of documentation for the the interview’s contents and relevant quotes. The documentation should be based on its usability for Impact Briefs, similar communication-materials and for internal program evaluation. It will require at least one feedback loop.
Activity 2: Schedule and conduct interviews with 2-4 city officials, administrators, community leaders or other relevant people per partner project (16 in total), totalling around 50 interviews of around 45-60 minutes. The interview process is expected to tease out strong impact stories even when interview partners originally lack the vision to articulate them.
Activity 3: Provide the interview documentation in its previously agreed upon form. The provision of good quotes (for authorisation by the interviewed) is expected.
Activity 4: Draft/Write 14 Impact Narratives. Impact narratives may also require feedback loops. The final Impact Briefs are to be written in a form and tone:
- appropriate and atoned to the Impact brief's primary and secondary audiences.
- usable in a fixed set of sections (length, consistency, etc.), incl. good quotes from the respondents.
- which employs good storytelling practices, highlighting the CFF’s positive and transformational impact.
- which highlights additional and interesting information revealed during the interview in a way that enables CFF to use it in further communication-materials (e.g., including quotes).
