how your culture has shaped your behaviour and how
This connects to the competency facet. Your reflection
shows self-insight, awareness of your strengths, and
challenges, and a thoughtful connection between who
You are and the intercultural situations you may face.

You create three clear, realistic (S.M.A.R.T. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound) learning objectives, one for each of the I.R.C facets you
have chosen. Each objective explains exactly what you
are going to do before the study trip in Year 2 Term 1 to
develop that competency. The goals are specific
(measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound). It is
easy to see how each objective connects to your
reflection, and your plan shows motivation and a
practical idea of how you will grow.

In chapter 3, you clearly describe an encounter between
a host and a guest based on one of the required options
(a short interview you conducted with someone from
the chosen encounter, or non-sensitive photos from
your own visits or interactions). Your description gives
enough detail for the reader to fully understand what
happened. You correctly link the encounter to one level
of the CMM model, and this connection is well-explained
and accurate. You show how the two cultures differ in
their expectations of hospitality and respect, and your
example clearly illustrates how both sides interpret the
situation. Your writing is balanced and respectful, and
you avoid any form of ethnocentrism.
