Casual Essay
Budget: $10 – $25 USD
This essay uses causation to support its thesis. Typically it is named a cause and effect essay, but to remind us that we use causation for the greater purpose of proving the thesis, we simply call this work the causal essay.
This work is straightforward. It offers body paragraphs that begin with claims, and it uses causal modality--a logic stream--to support those claims.
Because this work relies so heavily on logic, it is time to incorporate a secondary source as support. We will not yet worry about proper documentation. Instead, we will use the source in simple attributive fashion, and this means that we simply give the source credit in-text at the point of support. This will be demonstrated in this week's videos.
To help make sure that we are only using good sources, we will limit our source domains to .edu and .gov, and limiting sources when searching will also be demonstrated in this week's videos.
So, this 100 point essay will make claims to support its thesis. Those claims will lead body pragraphs, and their support will chiefly be logic. one source--JUST ONE--will help support one claim, and that source MUST ORIGINATE from either .edu or .gov. Using a source from any other domain is a major deduction.
