Part 1:
Assess the regulatory framework behind Safety requirements
- You are one of the Safety and Security Management Team of a new UAE- based airline.
- You are tasked with creating the elements of the Safety Management System for your airline to
make it compliant with the GCAA Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs). Accordingly, you are
required to:
- Identify one specific scenario where you need to establish the safety procedures as per
the GCAA Civil Aviation Regulations under the umbrella of ICAO Annex 19 guidelines.
- Explain how Safety Policy and Objectives are developed in your airline (i.e. explain the
process) and describe how this process will be applied to the particular Threat/Hazard,
you have identified
- Establish the Safety Management System (SMS ) for your airline.
- Develop specific Safety Communications to deal with the Threat/Hazard

- examine Safety measurements and systems in airlines, aircraft and airport
- Identify the particular challenge to safety.
- There is an identifiable hazard or threat to the safe operation of your airline and then
use the SMS process to give solutions to deal with such Hazard/Threat
- Develop Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) to measure the particular Threat/Hazard
you have identified.
- Explain how your risk assessment process works and apply it to the Hazard/Threat you
have identified.
- Apply Risk management techniques and identify solutions to mitigate the risk down to
a level that is as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP)
Part 3
- Assess contemporary challenges related to Safety and security management and
recommend solutions
- Once you Identify particular challenges to safety, you also identify hazards or threats to
the safe operation of your airline. You are required to write appropriate solutions and
practical recommendations to your management of the following:
- how to tackle these challenges efficiently with a minimum cost
- How to mitigate such risks, hazards, and threats effectively
report should be fully referenced in Harvard style.
