When you open the Assessment Plan template if you find that many of the cells are blacked out then read the note at the bottom of this screen.
What steps do you need to follow to develop your assessment tool?
Step 1: Select a Unit of Competency or a cluster of Units of Competency. This task MUST be undertaken using one or more Unit/s of Competency that can be viewed by your assessor at https://training.gov.au/Home/TgaLinks to an external site.
Your selected Unit/s of Competency MUST be different to the one/s you select for the subsequent Assessment 5: Project - Assessment Tool 2 and Assessment 6: Project - Assessment Tool 3 (RPL).
Step 2: Complete the assessment plan template for your selected Unit of Competency or cluster of Units. For a completed Assessment Plan example, see page 130 of the Book of Readings.Download Book of Readings.
Step 3: Develop suitable assessment instruments to support your assessment plan. At least three (3) assessment instruments must be created to support your assessment plan. Assessment instrument templates are provided that you might like to use as a starting point when developing the assessment instruments described in your assessment plan. Submit your created assessment instruments before using them to conduct an assessment.
Step 4: For each of your three assessment instruments, create instructions for assessors (including decision-making criteria) and instructions for candidates. Your instructions must provide advice on how the instrument should be administered. If you are using the given assessment instrument templates, then these already contain dedicated sections for instructions and decision-making criteria. If you are using your own templates, you must ensure that the instructions and decision-making criteria are included. For examples of what these may look like, please review pages 98-129 of the Book of Readings.Download Book of Readings.
Note: When completing the decision-making criteria remember to provide details to help the assessors to assess different candidates’ performance consistently. This may include listing the ideal range of answers for knowledge questions or additional guidance about how checklist items should be interpreted when completing an observation checklist.
Step 5: Submit assessment mapping covering all three assessment instruments against the unit or course requirements. For an example of a completed mapping document, review page 30 of the Book of Readings.Download Book of Readings.
Before submitting your project double-check that you have supplied all the following documents:
• Assessment plan 1 including “Contextualisation Statement” and “Reasonable Adjustment Statement
• At least three (3) assessment instruments. Each instrument should include instructions for assessors, decision-making criteria and instructions for candidates
• Assessment Mapping Documents for Assessment Plan 1
