Artists Scandals and Secrets

Job ID: 31400840

Budget: $30 – $250 NZD

I need some inspiration done for a larger project I am vetting to see the feasibility of.

Think of this as a feasibility test of a much larger work I must try and create from scratch in the years to come.

This project feasibility test is about looking into lives of some of the more scoundrel artists of the past and present (mostly the past).

This will be many artists, so below is are examples but also must be researched by you. Then use these as examples to find 14 more scoundrel, or artists with dark pasts, or a overly brutal/distressing lives.

Some examples:

-- Francisco de Goya
Went deaf, mad, secretly made his Black Paintings in an attic

-- Caravaggio
Put hints of his life into his paintings such as young men in an inappropriate way for the time, killed someone in a street fight, lost a commission (patron) by putting a horses butt into the main half of the giant painting)

-- Paul Cézanne
Possibly murdered someone in his youth. When young he was so close to the edge that his former school friend Émile Zola used him as the model for a doomed artist in his novel The Masterpiece.

-- Jacques-Louis David
Painted The Death of Marat (1754), who was killed by a young girl who wanted to put a stop to Marat's signing of countless death sentences from his bathtub (he had a skin condition). Jacques-Louis David supported Marat and the most extreme killings of the French Revolution.

-- Benvenuto Cellini
In the 1500s he shot an a innkeeper, killed a goldsmith, and stabbed his brother to death. Then wrote an autobiography about it.
