I am seeking a researcher with a strong background in anthropology to assist with a project exploring emotional connections with AI-powered avatars and 2.5D characters in Japan (nijikon). The focus will be on digital cultures, kinship, personhood, and the impact of emerging technologies, with a brief comparative look at Chinese cosplay practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct literature research on topics such as digital cultures, emotional attachments to virtual characters, and anthropological perspectives on kinship and technology.
Synthesize academic sources to support the theoretical framework of the research.
Qualifications:
MA/PhD in Anthropology or related fields.
Experience with digital cultures or East Asian societies is a plus.
Proven experience in conducting research in English.
