I have a medical law assignment which consists of making a presentation on one of the topics listed below. The use of case law will need to be used.
Produce a presentation responding to one of the following questions considering legal and ethical arguments to reach a reasoned and firm conclusion: -
1. Critically evaluate whether Abortion should remain permitted under the Abortion Act 1967, Section 1 (d) on the grounds that ,‘that there is a substantial risk that if the child were born it would suffer from such physical or mental abnormalities as to be seriously handicapped.’
2. Critically analyse whether the Suicide Act 1961 should be changed to permit assisted suicide in cases in which an individual is terminally ill.
3. Critically evaluate whether the Organ Donation (Deemed Consent) Act 2019, which provided for the current opt-out system of organ donation, should be changed from a soft to a hard opt-out.
4. Critically evaluate whether the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003 should be amended to decriminalise Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) given that there has only been one successful prosecution under the 2003 Act to date.
5. Critically evaluate the efficacy of the current law on Surrogacy and whether this area of the Law is in need of reform.
