VDC Construction Simulation for PTOCC - completed by 20th April 2025 (AWST)
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
I am seeking an expert in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) tools to create a comprehensive digital simulation of the Public Transport Operations Control Centre (PTOCC) construction site
This project aims to develop a realistic, sequenced, and visually engaging simulation of the construction environment using provided BIM resources. The simulation will help communicate site logistics, construction sequencing, and VDC methodology in support of a reflective report.
Scope of Work
The project involves:
Establishing a virtual site environment that includes key construction equipment and temporary facilities such as:
Cranes
Excavators and pumps
Scaffolding
Trucks and forklifts
Surveying tools (drones, laser scanners, total stations)
Temporary site offices and storage units
Site boundaries, fencing, and safety barriers
Developing a detailed site logistics plan using Revit or Twinmotion, including:
Access paths and staging zones
Equipment and material flow
Clear spatial coordination and justification
Modelling construction sequencing (4D) in Navisworks Manage:
Link model components to a basic schedule
Stage the build using logical, realistic construction phases
Show progression from site establishment through to final external works
Skills and Experience Required
Proficiency in Revit, Twinmotion, and Navisworks Manage
Experience in site logistics planning and construction staging
Ability to simulate workflows and communicate sequencing visually
Understanding of BIM model coordination and digital construction practices
Deliverables
You will provide:
A modified Navisworks model with all VDC components integrated
Supporting Revit and Twinmotion files (if used)
A combined PDF portfolio including:
Summary of your workflow
The rationale behind site layout, logistics, and sequencing
Screenshots showing:
Virtual environment and setup
Site logistics visualisation
Equipment Placement
Step-by-step construction sequencing
Optional: A short 4D simulation video or image storyboard (e.g. exported from Timeliner)
Build Phases to Follow
Structure the sequencing around these seven phases:
Site Preparation – fencing, surveying, setup of temporary facilities
Earthworks – site clearing, excavation, trenching
Foundations – concrete footings, slabs
Superstructure – structural frames, lift cores, stairs
Envelope – external cladding, windows, roofing
Services & Fit-Out – MEP installation, internal wall framing
External Works – landscaping, external lighting, signage, clean-up
Expectations
The simulation should be visually coherent, construction-accurate, and formatted to suit academic presentation.
All work must reflect best practices in construction planning and coordination.
A logical file structure and naming system must be used.
Stakeholder clarity and realism should be a core focus of the final visual outputs.
