I plan to build my own house next year. I want to keep it simple. At first, it would be a ranch with the same pitch roof from start to finish; however, that looked like a trailer. The living area will have a higher-pitched roof. The porch on the front and the garage on the other will be different.
I plan to build a home using passive home techniques. I am a big fan of Matt Risinger. I want a conditioned attic with the HVAC, dehumidifier, and ERV in the attic. It will be built with a crawl space, 2 x 6 exterior walls, 2" insulation on the outside of Zip, 4" insulation (maybe) on the roof, and 2" blown insulation with 4" Rockwool on the exterior walls.
It will probably use floor and roof trusses. I have a basic drawing from Chief Architect, which I can share.
