Technical drafting of Historic Reuse Design of Johannesburg Gas Works
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
In this project, I require a freelancer to produce detailed technical drawings of a historic reuse design from a given REVIT file with provided plans with dimentions. You are required to to transform and adaptively reuse the old structure, better serving the surrounding community and providing a landmark of how historic buildings do not need to be torn down, but instead preserved, re-purposed and restored. Parts of the building’s original architecture are to be preserved, referencing the masterful brick laying of the historic structure. Not ALL of the exterior may be destroyed and consideration for historical relevance and use of the old building needs to be incorporated into the design. Both natural and artificial lighting, modern innovation and materials are allowed. Consider how sustainable design ties into adaptive reuse and the importance of green decisions and materials when planning a destination for the community.
The interior void of the building has a three-story steel structure which has become unstable and will be removed, allowing you to imagine the interior of the building to be hollow, without any levels or floors. If your design calls for multiple levels within the structure, you should consider making use of secondary support structures and walkways within the main volume.
Details needed for completion include:
- Floor plans
- Elevations
- Sections
- One interior elevation
- Ceiling plan for each level
- An industry-standard finishing schedule
Your final work should be delivered with a title block, labels, headings, and more, using appropriate line weights and styles for a comprehensive clarity. Knowledge and experience in producing technical drawings satisfying ISO (International Organization for Standardization) regulations is crucial to this role. Using REVIT will also be integral, and past experience with architectural historic reuse designs will be an added advantage. You need to produce readily interpretable and informative designs, indicating a deep understanding of technical aesthetics.
