Seeking Freelance Landscape Designers / Landscape Architects (Remote, Project-Based)
Location: Remote (must be familiar with or willing to research German site-specific design regulations)
Compensation: Per project basis
I am expanding my design team and looking for two skilled freelance Landscape Designers or Landscape Architects with a deep understanding of German-specific site regulations and climate conditions to support residential garden design projects in Germany.
You’ll play a key role in developing site-specific, regulation-compliant, and visually stunning designs that meet our client’s expectations in both form and function.
Key Responsibilities:
• Main Garden Design (Top-Down, 2D, Scale-Accurate):
→ Include all planned features and zones
→ Explain your reasoning and planning decisions clearly for internal team and client presentation
• Beautiful 3D Renderings:
→ Render the full garden with real-world proportions and layout
• Detailed Planting Concept:
→ Review our initial high-level planting ideas.
→ Propose improvements based on climate, soil, light, and maintenance factors.
→ Provide a plant list with species, positions, combinations, bloom times, and quantities.
• Material Concept & List:
→ Suggest appropriate materials for paths, terraces, walls, pergolas, furniture, etc.
• Follow German Regulations & Guidelines:
→ Familiarize yourself with boundary distances, water management, and restrictions (e.g., no artificial turf unless briefed).
→ Ensure compliance for features like fences, terraces, and trees.
• Translate & Work with German-Language Files:
→ Most project documents will be in German—you must be comfortable working with these independently using tools like DeepL or similar.
Site Conditions to Consider:
• Climate Zones: 7a, 7b, 8a – temperate seasonal
• Soil: Often clay-heavy – prioritize good drainage and water management
• Maintenance: Design with realistic effort and durability in mind
Requirements:
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion, V-Ray (or equivalent)
• Experience designing for temperate European climates (preferably Germany)
• Strong knowledge of native and climate-appropriate plant species
• Ability to deliver detailed, build-ready designs
• Independent, detail-oriented, and responsive
