Redesigning a Victorian terraced house (living/dining, kitchen, office, 4 bedrooms) into a cohesive Modern Victorian home — bright, elegant, and functional. Looking for a designer with great spatial planning, colour sense, and period sensitivity. Must provide mood boards, lighting design, layouts, and colour guidance using a colour wheel. Collaboration is key — I want an active creative partner, not just a decorator.
I’ve just exchanged on a Victorian terraced house and need to redesign / redecorate multiple rooms including the living room and dining room (will open the wall between) office, kitchen, and 4 bedrooms and would like a cohesive Modern Victorian look— bright with clean lines and contemporary comfort layered over classic architectural details. On the round floor would like to remove the carpet and stain / oil and polish the floorboards. Further work will likely include an ensuite bathroom and 2 x bathroom upgrades.
Here’s what I need from you:
I'm an older man and I live with my two sons Finn 18 and Ben 16, I need you to consider how we will use the house, which room the office should be in, which room the gym should be in, the front room will probably be a home cinema room - 65 inch TV above fireplace or on opposite wall with discrete speakers and also ceiling speakers otherwise not very obvious. consider circulation routes and form / furniture location first for all rooms, then
• Lighting sources i.e. downlighters and uplighters, plug sockets, table lamps, locations and guidance for the electrician I intend to use Hue lighting throughout with multiple table lamps and downlighters.
• Mood board and color palette that merge function with period charm with fresh, current tones.
• Scaled room layouts showing furniture placement that respects existing fireplaces, coving, and ceiling heights.
• Kitchen layout and design
• Storage / built in wardrobes as appropriate - use Ikea or similar for cost savings.
• Two rounds of refinements on each room after initial feedback.
• Optional but appreciated: 3-D visualisations or SketchUp renders so I can see how the spaces flow together.
The home’s original features will stay—everything else is flexible so long as the final design feels airy and sophisticated rather than overly ornate. I want your input, I know what I want but am very open to your advice and direction.
I already have accurate measurements and current photos which are shared, I'm available (UK time ) for quick questions to keep momentum going. If you have prior examples of updated-yet-period interiors, for the kitchen I want function over retro. I’m eager to start as soon as we agree on the concept and timeline.
