House Design & Plans
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am looking for someone who could design our house and create our building plans to submit to the local authorities (including 3D plans).
We are planning to build our 3-bedroom home (or only 2 bedrooms as we are still budgeting) on the island of Dominica where my husband is originally from.
The island of Dominica is known as the nature island of the Caribbean. It offers waterfalls, rivers, hot springs, mountains, beaches, a fresh water lake, a boiling lake, volcanoes...
The island is not too developed and attracts tourists looking for rivers, nature, hiking, scuba diving...
The downside of this beautiful island is that we are exposed to major hurricanes (the last one was Hurricane Maria in 2017), major floods, landslides and thermites).
I have designed some plans on Floor Planner but I am limited in creativity.
I am looking for a contemporary design, but in total harmony with nature (cottage/lodge style).
We have to build our house in concrete because of hurricanes, but the wood element is essential for me and must be added in the construction.
I am also looking for large openings from the kitchen/living room to a very large porch, to connect the interior to the exterior.
But also large windows to bring daylight into the house. All openings should be protected by solid wood shutters to protect the house in case of hurricane, or when we are away.
The house should be about 52 feet long and 35 feet wide (including a covered deck of about 10 feet wide and between 38 and 52 feet long).
We are not looking to build with high-end materials as we are on a budget, but I am looking for something unique, not too complicated to build.
