Help Select Exterior Materials
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m planning an addition to our small yellow-brick home and need a designer’s eye to pull together an exterior palette that finally feels right. The existing house has yellow brick and a brown roof— a combination I’ve never loved— yet it still needs to sit comfortably among the 1950s façades on our street.
Here’s what I have in mind:
• Long-term we will stain the original brick, so whatever you propose must anticipate that color shift.
• Roof, windows, soffit and gutters will all be black.
• The new addition should blend with the original structure while freshening the overall curb appeal.
Materials I’m open to exploring are Brick, Siding, Board and Batten, and maybe Stone for texture or accents. I’m flexible on exact products and profiles as long as the look ties old and new together.
What I need from you
1. Two to three cohesive exterior renderings with schemes presented as mood boards.
2. A concise materials list for each scheme specifying manufacturer, color/finish and any installation notes that keep costs realistic.
3. Guidance on how the chosen scheme will age once the existing brick is stained, so we avoid future mismatches.
I can supply photos, dimensions and the architectural drawings of the addition as soon as we start. If you have experience with color-accurate visualisations or 3-D mock-ups, let me know—that would be a bonus but is not mandatory.
