Error Correcting Code (ECC) System Design
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
We are seeking skilled electronics engineers or teams to work on an exciting project that involves the design and implementation of an Error Correcting Code (ECC) system for data transmission. This project is an excellent opportunity to showcase your expertise in Boolean logic, circuit design, and error correction techniques.
Project Overview:
The primary objective of this project is to create a robust ECC system to ensure reliable data transmission from an I/O Controller to Memory. The ECC system should be capable of detecting and correcting single-bit errors and, in the case of a two-bit error, displaying an error status. The project involves three key components:
ECC Generator: Develop an ECC Generator at the I/O Controller to generate a 13-bit vector from an 8-bit Data Vector, incorporating even parity.
Data Transmission: Construct a 13-bit Data Transmission bus to transmit the 8-bit binary data and 5 parity bits to Memory.
ECC Detector: Create an ECC Detector at Main Memory that can identify and correct single-bit errors. Additionally, design an error status display system.
Project Deliverables:
ECC Generator: Design and implement the ECC Generator, ensuring it generates the required 13-bit vector with even parity.
Data Transmission: Build the 13-bit Data Transmission bus to transmit data and parity bits reliably.
ECC Detector: Develop the ECC Detector at Main Memory to identify and correct single-bit errors, and create an error status display system.
Documentation: Provide comprehensive documentation within the project files to explain the functionality of each component.
