EXTERIOR REMODEL

I'm stuck with finding the look/materials locally that I want. I am working with a contractor for new black vinyl Gerkin windows & sliding door, Western Door Black Full Light exterior doors. I would like to move to a modern/MCM exterior with an horizontal cedar feature at front window, door porch & maybe front of garage. I would like a dark accent vertical for the remaining of the house. Husband would like to do the complete home, wants very low maintenance & said that we can't have a black house... I don't care for typical vinyl siding, so I'm perplexed! We also intend to wrap soffits, replace gutters, extend the porch & we currently have a white garage door. The one photo is my attempt at design, with colored pencils over a B&W copy of the house...
