Cafe interior design -- 2
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
The café seeks to be a welcoming space which seamlessly integrates with the aesthetics and the programmatic offerings of the Cultural Center. Speaking more specifically to the latter, by being an extension of the Cultural Center, it aims to attract women to the Cultural Center who may not be immediately interested in some of the programmatic offerings, or are simply looking for a social space that is welcoming, relaxing, and integrated into a reflective spiritual space. To this extent, the space in the café needs to accommodate both casual social use by individuals and small groups, and larger programmatic social events. Some of these larger events may include: Monthly Women’s Majlis, Book Clubs, Weekly Ramadan Iftar, Weekly Ramadan Suhur, Eid Social/Afternoon Tea. For these larger events which may require more extensive food options, the food will be catered and the Center kitchen will be used for preparation and service.
The menu of the café will focus on providing: (1) fresh bakery offerings and (2) healthy, fresh and seasonal food that requires moderate food preparation. Some of the fresh bakery offerings can be sourced by partnering with local micro-bakeries/bakeries such as Hummingbird Bakery, Torba, Rusk etc., other bakery offerings can be prepared in house, such as muffins, tea cakes etc. The fresh food will be prepared in the kitchen, but full effort will be made to have a streamlined menu that allows for tasteful food with moderate overhead costs. Below is a sample of what is envisioned:
