Job ID: 40340739

Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR

Application of InVEST Carbon Model for Wetland and Forest Ecosystems in India (GIS-Based Analysis)

Project Description:
I am looking for an experienced GIS and environmental modeling expert to apply the InVEST (Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Trade-offs) Carbon Storage and Sequestration Model for two ecologically significant sites in India:
• Sultanpur National Park (Wetland ecosystem)
• Mangar Bani (Sacred forest ecosystem)
The objective of this project is to estimate and compare carbon storage and sequestration potential across these two contrasting ecosystems using GIS-based modeling.

Scope of Work:
The selected freelancer will be responsible for:
1. Data Preparation
• Acquire and preprocess LULC (Land Use/Land Cover) raster datasets
• Prepare spatial layers (clipping, projection, resolution matching)
• Assign carbon pool values (t/ha) for:
o Aboveground biomass
o Belowground biomass
o Soil carbon
o Dead organic matter

2. Model Implementation
• Run the InVEST Carbon Storage and Sequestration Model
• Perform analysis for:
o Carbon storage (baseline year)
o Carbon sequestration (if multi-temporal data available)

3. Output Generation
• Carbon storage maps for both study areas
• Sequestration maps (if applicable)
• Comparative analysis between wetland and forest ecosystems
• Summary tables of carbon stock per LULC class

4. Interpretation & Reporting
• Provide a brief analytical report including:
o Methodology
o Assumptions used
o Key findings
o Comparative insights

Expected Deliverables:
• GIS maps (GeoTIFF / shapefiles)
• Processed datasets
• Final report (Word/PDF)
• Model input/output files
