React Native+ Node.js + React Admin: Scalable App for Farmers
Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR
React Native+ Node.js + React Admin: Scalable App for Farmers (with Video & Weather)
We are building a comprehensive mobile and web platform specifically designed to empower farmers by giving them timely, actionable market insights and weather updates. The core idea is to allow farmers to watch daily video updates on current mandi (market) crop prices in their nearby areas, receive accurate weather forecasts with critical alerts, stay informed on local incidents that may impact agriculture, and receive push notifications on all of these updates. This platform will consist of two primary user-facing systems: a mobile application built using React Native (for Android) and a web-based admin console built in React.js (with Tailwind for styling). The admin console will enable us to upload daily videos about mandi prices, summary highlights of the market, weather reports, and incidents. Admins will also be able to manage users, run promotional ads or campaigns, and send targeted push notifications. All content, especially video files, will be stored on Amazon S3 and delivered via CloudFront CDN for optimized global delivery, ensuring farmers in rural areas get smooth playback even on slower connections. The backend system will be developed in Node.js, interfacing with either PostgreSQL or Firestore (based on what suits the scale and indexing needs best), and will expose secure REST APIs for both the mobile app and the admin panel. Authentication for farmers will be handled via OTP-based login (using Firebase Authentication for simplicity and reliability), and we'll also use Firebase Messaging for push notifications to keep them engaged and informed. We aim for the app to support multiple languages starting with Hindi and English, with flexibility to add more regional languages later. The app's primary screens will include a home video feed with thumbnails showing daily crop prices, a weather screen with a carousel for a 7-day forecast plus critical alerts (like storms or heavy rains), a news/incidents section with local updates impacting farming, a daily summary video screen highlighting key points, and a profile/settings screen where farmers can manage their language preferences and notification subscriptions. The admin console will include dashboards for video management (upload, edit, delete, categorize by type and crop), user management (view, suspend, delete), ad campaign controls (upload banners/videos, choose screen placement, target by region and schedule dates), and a push notification tool to send instant or scheduled alerts. We expect the platform to scale to support 50-60 lakh users, which means the architecture must include CDN delivery, caching, database optimization, and eventually load balancing strategies. We also want to integrate basic analytics to track video views, most popular crops, and user engagement metrics. We are looking for an experienced team or freelancer who has previously built large-scale mobile and web applications, has familiarity with CDN setups and optimizing large video uploads and playback, and can implement secure OTP-based authentication with Firebase. The goal is to deliver a robust, user-friendly solution that directly helps farmers make informed decisions. We will prioritize teams that can show similar previous projects and provide a realistic estimate of both cost and timeline for an MVP and future scaling.
