React Native Calorie Counter App

Job ID: 40160468

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

I'm looking for a skilled app developer to help create a simple and user-friendly Food Calorie Detection App. The app should allow users to take a photo of their food, and the app will analyze the image to estimate the calorie count.I’m ready to move from concept to working prototype for a cross-platform mobile app that can recognise what a user is about to eat and instantly show an estimated calorie and nutrition breakdown. The stack has to be React Native so I can maintain a single codebase for both iOS and Android; beyond that, I’m open to whichever recognition approach—camera vision, barcode scanning, or even a hybrid of the two—you feel delivers the most accurate results without slowing performance.

Here’s what I need:

• a clean, camera-first interface that guides the user through capturing or selecting their food item
• real-time processing that returns calories, macros, and micronutrients in a single response
• clear, human-readable output with portion-size adjustment and the option to save each entry to a daily log
• an easily swappable data layer: you may wire up a reliable third-party nutrition API or demonstrate a lightweight custom dataset, provided the structure is documented

Deliverables
1. Full React Native source (TypeScript preferred) with all third-party libraries clearly noted in package.json
2. Setup instructions and one-click build scripts for both Android and iOS
3. A short read-me explaining the food detection flow, the nutrition source you integrated, and how to extend or replace it in future versions
4. A video or screenshots showing the feature set working on a real device or emulator

I’ll run your build on my own devices; if everything functions as described and produces consistent results, we’re good to go.
