Mobile Developer for Camera Experience Upgrade
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
We are looking for an experienced mobile developer to review and improve the camera experience in our existing social media application for iOS and Android.
The app currently uses an open-source camera solution. Our main concerns are:
Incorrect or inconsistent aspect ratio
Differences between the camera preview and final captured media
Photos becoming pixelated or losing quality
Camera preview and capture flow not feeling smooth
Inconsistent behavior across devices
The overall camera experience not feeling as polished as Snapchat or other modern social media apps
The selected developer will first review the existing codebase and identify where these issues are occurring. This may include the camera configuration, image capture, cropping, resizing, compression, uploading, backend processing, or final media rendering.
Responsibilities
Review the existing iOS and Android camera implementation
Audit the current open-source camera library and configuration
Investigate aspect-ratio, cropping, and orientation issues
Identify the source of image pixelation and quality loss
Review the complete capture-to-upload-to-display pipeline
Improve camera smoothness, startup time, and capture performance
Ensure the preview matches the final photo or video
Improve focus, zoom, flash, and front/back camera switching
Recommend whether to improve, extend, or replace the current camera library
Suggest a polished vertical camera experience suitable for a social media app
Test the implementation across multiple devices and screen sizes
Required Experience
Strong React Native or Flutter experience
Native iOS and Android camera API experience
Experience with camera libraries and native modules
Image and video processing experience
Media compression and upload optimization
Performance profiling and memory optimization
Experience building social media, photo-sharing, or video applications
Strong understanding of aspect ratios, cropping, orientation, and camera sensors
