Revamp Node/React Backend Server

I’m running a special webapp React front-end, a Node.js back-end and need a focused refresh on the server side. The core tasks revolve around tightening up the existing JavaScript logic, upgrading the socket connection so real-time events stay rock-solid, and generally modernising the backend functionality.

Here’s what I need from you:
• Review and update the current Node/Express codebase, refactoring where needed for clarity and performance.
• Stand up or fine-tune the server environment (Linux on VPS) so deployment is smooth and repeatable—think environment variables, PM2, SSL and basic CI hooks.
• Add the small set of new functions I’ll specify during kickoff (a couple of extra API endpoints plus matching socket events). Clean, well-commented code and a short README that explains how to run everything locally will round it off.

If you’ve shipped similar Node/React real-time apps before, especially those leaning on socket.io, you’ll be at home here. I’m ready to hand over repo access as soon as we agree on milestones.
