This is a full time - 40 hours a week, remote role working for a successful online travel company with team members from around the world. Reporting to the Head of Development, you will support the development function of our business as part of a global team to maintain and innovate on our travel, insurance and data analytics platforms.
The key job deliverables include participating in design, development, maintenance and implementation of web-based applications, as well as assisting in ad hoc programming development projects.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic self-starter with in-depth knowledge of various web-based programming languages and a strong interest in using software to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for building and maintaining web applications that serve millions of sessions around the world. You will be working closely with Product, Design, QA and other members of your team to continually create the best product possible. You should be experienced working in a React JS and architecting clean, maintainable, testable solutions using industry best practices and modern design patterns.
- Create clean testable and scalable code;
- You will be responsible for creating clean, responsive front-ends that use modern JavaScript libraries such as ReactJS;
- Write Unit tests and keep test coverage high;
- Build responsive front-ends;
- Help to architect clean solutions for complex problems;
- Work with QA to ensure bug-free releases;
- Work with the Product team to develop realistic timelines and expectations;
- Communicate with a global and remote team to ensure consistency of deliverables; and
- Any other duties with the department that may be directed from time to time.
Essential Criteria
- 3 - 5 years work experience in a commercial software development environment in in React JS, Node JS, HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript, Preprocessors, AJAX, Webpack;
- 3 - 5 years previous experience with Linux, Apache/Nginx, MySQL and Git;
- Experience with Web Services and API integration using SOAP, REST, JSON-RPC, XML etc;
- An understanding of Applications, Operations and Infrastructure relating to deployment;
- Extensive knowledge of and experience working with SaaS and web applications, and - integration of 3rd party web services;
- Commercial experience managing internal and external stakeholders of technology products;
- An ability to translate business requirements into tangible and actionable technical requirements; and
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, ICT or related.
