We are seeking a talented and innovative UI/UX Designer to join our software development team, focusing on creating an intuitive and engaging user experience for a high-profile tech challenge. This individual will play a critical role in designing the interface and user experience of our tech challenge application, which will be developed using the React framework. As part of our team, the UI/UX Designer will work closely with developers and project managers to ensure our solutions meet both user needs and business goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing effective user interfaces and experiences, a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, and experience working within agile development teams.

Required Skills/Experience (Mandatory):
Proficient in UI/UX Design: Demonstrable experience in UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design process and outcomes.
Expertise with React Framework: Must have experience working with software development teams that use React. Familiarity with React's component lifecycle, state management, and best practices for UI development in React environments.
User-Centered Design: Deep understanding of user-centered design (UCD) principles, including user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, usability and accessibility concerns.
Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders within an agile development process. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Tool Proficiency: Expertise in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar.
Agile Methodology: Experience working in an agile development environment, with an understanding of how design fits within agile frameworks.
Desired Skills/Experience (Optional, Nice to Have):
Experience with Federal Agencies: Previous UI/UX design experience in support of a federal agency is highly desirable. Familiarity with the unique constraints and requirements of government projects is a plus.
Accessibility and Inclusion: Knowledge of WCAG guidelines and best practices for creating accessible and inclusive designs.
Front-end Development Skills: Basic to intermediate front-end development skills, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, are a plus. This is especially valuable for creating realistic prototypes and understanding the limitations and possibilities of web development.
Analytical Skills: Ability to use analytics tools to inform design decisions and to measure the effectiveness of UI/UX changes.
Educational Background: Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field is preferred but not required.
