Need help in Qualitative Data Analysis

Grounded Theory analysis:
a. Conduct the first round of coding (open coding). Tip* For every 1-4 sentences, rewrite what is
happening using gerund-based phrases – starting the sentence with a verb or action. This is
your code. Writing codes in this way allows you to capture the nuances of what the participant is
saying, and to give more agency to the participant.
b. ‘Peer check’ your open codes with a partner in your group. It cannot be the person who was the
participant in your interview however. ‘Peer checking’ means for both of you to open code each
other’s transcript, and then compare open codes.
c. Once everyone in your group has completed the first stage of coding, put all of the transcript
quotes + open codes in a single document. Create a version for each group member.
d. Working individually, conduct the second round of coding (axial coding) on all of your groups’
codes.
e. ‘Peer check’ your answers with your group.
f. Conduct the third round of coding (selective coding) all of your groups’ codes as a collective
group. Check what is being included in each theme. Do the categories make sense?
g. Write up summaries for each category/theme. (At least 100 words per category/theme).
