Sound and noice recognition to meassure productivity

Need to recognice different machine noise in order to measure productivity. In some cases I only need to know the working time and in others machines also need to know a productivity rate.
The software will run on a device, that can be a Raspberry or similar, with a microphone. They will be put in the clients facilities in order to report the productivity to an online dashboard.
