Rust or C NVMe Libary to be called on from within Python Scritps
Budget: $100 – $1,500 USD
This is a new project to write a library to be called from within a Python Script to write data to
and read from specific LBAs of an NVMe SSD as low-level IO with a block storage device.
Drives will be dedicated to this purpose and will not have any file systems or partitions. The
target system will be Ubuntu 20.04.
The library must take a list of target drives and return the total LBAs.
It must take 4KB chunks of data and a drive and LBA to which the data should be stored.
It must take a tuple of the first and last LBA that should be read sequentially and bytes returned
to the Python script.
The Python script will be responsible for tracking what data is stored in which LBA. You must
also provide a Python script that demonstrates the use of the library and provides an assertion
test.
A GitHub repository will be provided for this project. You will be expected to give short daily
updates via the Freelancer chat. Your proposal should include the size of your team, estimated
time needed to complete this project, references to past projects which used low-level NVMe
Block Storage which demonstrate an ability to complete this project.
The base system available for this project is a bare metal (Not Cloud) Ryzen 5950X with 128GB
of RAM and four Sabrent 1TB Rocket 4 Plus NVMe SSDs for data storage. OS and program
will run from a different m.2 SSD.
TimeLine: Two Weeks
