Full 2D Room Visualization System — Wall/Floor Detection, Region-Based Tile Replacement, Paint, Lighting, Grout & Drawing Tools
Job Description:
We are building a cutting-edge 2D Tile Visualization System for interior room design using AI. The goal is to allow users to upload room images and dynamically replace tiles, paint, lighting, and other effects — all based on wall and floor segmentation, and region-wise customization.
We are looking for an experienced AI developer + frontend/backend engineer (or team) who can deliver this functionality end-to-end in a scalable and optimized way.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Wall and Floor Detection
Use AI models (existing or new) to segment the room into wall and floor regions.
Generate clean binary masks for both wall and floor from any real room photo.
2. Multi-Wall and Section Identification
Post-process wall mask to extract:
Multiple wall regions: Detect Left, Right, Front, Back walls based on image position/direction.
Wall sections: If a wall is split visually (e.g., by windows, beams), detect each sub-region as a separate mask.
Calculate and return:
Region ID, region type (wall/floor), center point, direction, bounding box.
Save separate mask images per region.
3. Region-Wise Tile Replacement
Allow user to choose different tile designs for each wall section and floor separately.
Apply tiles to regions using OpenCV or image processing in a clean, repeated texture pattern.
Must support:
Region-level tile assignment
Real-time replacement preview
Accurate pattern repetition based on tile size
4. Paint Customization
Enable users to paint any wall section instead of using tiles.
Add solid color fills or gradients to selected wall regions.
Support undo, change color, and save paint layers per region.
5. Lighting Simulation (Basic)
Simulate basic lighting effects (shadows, highlights) from a selected light direction (top-left, top-right, etc.).
Optional: Allow users to drag a virtual light source to visualize soft shadows over tiles.
6. Grout Customization
Add tile grout simulation:
User chooses grout width and color
Overlay applied between tiles
Can be toggled per region
7. Custom Region Drawing
Allow users to manually draw regions (polygon or rectangle) on the image.
These drawn regions can be assigned either a tile or paint.
8. Backend Integration (Python + FastAPI preferred)
API to return segmented region data (region_id, mask, type, center, etc.)
API to apply tile texture to each region and return final composited image
Save user projects with configuration (tile per region, paint colors, etc.)
9. Frontend Interface (React preferred)
Upload room image
Show detected regions overlay
On click: assign tile or paint to selected region
Dynamic 2D preview
Allow saving, reloading, editing saved designs
Toasts/notifications for success/error
Key Technologies We Prefer:
Frontend: React (with Material UI or TailwindCSS)
Backend: Python (FastAPI) or Node.js
AI: PyTorch/Transformers/OpenCV
Image Processing: OpenCV (tile rendering), PIL
Deployment: AWS, Render, or cloud-compatible
