Python Web Scraping Expert – Automotive Listings Aggregator
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I'm looking for a skilled Python developer to build a script or small application that scrapes vehicle listings from the following platforms:
Facebook Marketplace (Cars section)
Carsales
Pickles Auctions
Carlin Auctions
Grays Auctions
The goal is to extract relevant data (e.g., make, model, year, price, location, listing URL, seller type, etc.) and compile it into a structured format such as a CSV or database (e.g., SQLite or PostgreSQL).
Key Requirements:
Experience with Python web scraping tools (BeautifulSoup, Selenium, Scrapy, etc.)
Ability to handle JavaScript-heavy websites (e.g., Facebook Marketplace)
Respectful of platform rate limits and bot detection
Familiarity with data cleaning and basic validation
Deliver code and brief documentation so it can be reused or modified
Optional: add scheduling/automation features (e.g., daily runs)
Deliverables:
A Python script (or scripts) that scrape all five sources
Clean output in a single CSV or DB table
Instructions for running and modifying the code
Bonus if you can:
Set up the script to run periodically (cron job or Task Scheduler)
Use proxies or techniques to reduce chance of getting blocked
Provide GUI or dashboard view (e.g., using Streamlit)
