Python Script for PDF using OpenAI GPT
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
Scope of Work: Python Script for PDF using OpenAI GPT
Note: The aim is to reach the end goal. Developers are welcome to propose simpler alternatives, and we are open to adopting them.
Project Overview:
The goal of this project is to develop a Python script that allows users to input the name of a PDF file, specify their summarization requirements, and utilize the OpenAI API to generate it. The script should be capable of handling PDF files with 100 of pages and provide the output in a formatted Word file.
Functional Requirements:
User Interaction:
Prompt the user for the PDF file path.
Ask the user how they want to process the file (e.g., summarize, extract keywords, sentiment, questions, fact checking).
Allow specifying additional parameters e.g desired summary length.
OpenAI Integration:
Authenticate with the OpenAI API using user-provided credentials.
Choose the appropriate API endpoint based on the user's chosen task (e.g., summarization).
Process the PDF file content (possibly involving chunking for large files).
Send the relevant data to the OpenAI API for processing.
Handle potential errors and exceptions gracefully.
Output Generation:
Format the generated summary according to the user's chosen task (e.g., bullet points for keywords).
Save the formatted summary as a Word document at the specified location.
Technical Requirements:
Use appropriate Python libraries for file handling, parsing, and text formatting.
Implement error handling and logging mechanisms.
Ensure the script can handle large PDF files.
Provide clear user instructions and feedback during the process.
User Feedback:
Provide informative messages to the user throughout the script execution.
Notify the user upon completion and provide the location of the saved output file.
Error Handling:
Implement robust error handling to address potential issues such as incorrect file paths, API failures, or invalid user inputs.
Display relevant error messages to guide the user.
Deliverables:
Functional Python script with comments and documentation.
Instructions for running the script and providing necessary inputs.
Test cases demonstrating the script's functionality for different use cases.
Timeline:
The development of the script is expected to be completed within 7 days.
Appendix: Example of user prompts:
Summarization Requests:
"Write me the summary of the document in 1000 words."
"Summarize the document in 500 words."
"Provide a concise summary of the content."
Key Takeaways:
"Write me the key takeaways from the file."
"What are the main points discussed in the document?"
"Summarize the main ideas and conclusions."
Case Study Request:
"Write me a real-world case study based on the concepts presented in the document."
"Create a case study using the information in the document."
"Generate a practical example from the document's content."
Simplified Explanation:
"Explain the document in simple terms for a 5th-grade student."
"Provide a kid-friendly explanation of the document."
"Simplify the document's content for elementary school comprehension."
Heading Suggestions:
"Suggest headings for the document."
"What would be suitable section titles for the document?"
"Generate appropriate headings based on the content."
Note: The aim is to reach the end goal. Developers are welcome to propose simpler alternatives, and we are open to adopting them.
