Python PDF Merger: Side by Side

I am seeking a proficient Python coder to develop a program that can merge two PDF files side by side. It should take command line parameters: doc1.pdf, doc2.pdf, output.pdf. Page 1 of the output file should be page 1 of doc1, a vertical line, page 1 of doc2. And so on. The output file can be any width as long as the result is viewable in normal pdf viewers. The purpose of this utility is to allow someone to quickly visually scan through the two documents side by side to quickly note any visual differences.
