Python & InDesign Scripting for Travel Journals

Job ID: 39223976

Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD

We are seeking a Python and InDesign scripting expert to develop an automated system for creating personalized travel journals from structured itinerary data. This role goes beyond execution—we need a problem-solver who can define the best automation approach.

I’m developing personalized, interactive travel journals for kids to make family travel more engaging, educational, and fun. The idea is to turn a standard trip into an immersive adventure—where kids interact with their surroundings through challenges, fun facts, and storytelling elements designed specifically for their itinerary.

The goal is to automate the customization and generation of these journals based on structured travel data provided by parents (destination, dates, activities). The system should:
✅ Pull relevant historical, cultural, and fun facts about the destinations.
✅ Generate daily summaries in a kid-friendly tone.
✅ Auto-select interactive challenges based on location and type of activity.
✅ Integrate visuals, maps, stickers, and adventure stamps to enhance engagement.
✅ Format everything into a beautiful, printable InDesign layout that parents can receive as a PDF or order in print.

We will leverage Python, AI (GPT), and InDesign scripting to automate this process as much as possible. The challenge is to seamlessly merge AI-generated content with structured templates while ensuring that each journal feels personalized, visually appealing, and engaging for kids aged 8-12.

What You’ll Do:
? Automate InDesign (IDML/INDD) to populate templates dynamically.
? Integrate AI (GPT-4 API) for text and image generation, making content more engaging.
? Optimize workflows to scale journal production efficiently.
? Identify technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.

Who You Are:
✅ Strong in Python scripting & InDesign automation.
✅ Experience in document generation & AI-driven content creation.
✅ A proactive thinker who enjoys tackling complex automation problems.
