The goal of this project is to create 3D models of tube surfaces (0.04m rad, 0.08m height) with realistic surface defects (cracks, pits, and corrosion) to generate synthetic data for AI.
The defects will vary in severity and location across the surface, with around 4,000 variations for each defect type, totalling 12,000 models. We’ll then render 2D images from these models to serve as a dataset. Need to create initial textures in Blender for three types of defects: -cracks, pits, and corrosion.
-Each defect type needs to appear only on specific areas of the tube, not uniformly across the entire surface.
-Use Python scripting in Blender to automate the creation of variations in defect severity (e.g., depth, spread, and density) for each defect type.
-This will involve adjusting parameters in the nodes to create varying defect intensities and locations across 4,000 models per defect type.
-For each defect variation, render the 3D model into 2D images from multiple angles.
-The Python script should automate this process, ensuring each model renders and saves as a high-quality 2D image with consistent lighting and camera angles. (optional)
