Polish Sign Language Recognition Desktop App

Job ID: 39319846

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I am looking for a developer to build a simple desktop application that recognizes basic Polish Sign Language (PJM) gestures using a camera. The application should convert these gestures into corresponding Polish letters and numbers, forming words from the recognized letters.
Key Features
• Real-time Gesture Recognition: Detect PJM hand gestures in real-time using a connected camera (e.g., webcam).
• Text Conversion: Translate each detected gesture into a Polish letter (e.g., A, B, C) or number (0–9).
• Word Formation: Combine recognized letters into words and display them on the interface.
• Simple UI: Provide a clean, minimal graphical interface displaying only the camera feed and translated text.
Requirements
• Basic gesture recognition for a small set of PJM gestures (e.g., 5–10 letters/numbers) for prototype testing.
Ideal Skills
• Python: Proficiency in real-time gesture recognition, camera integration, and GUI development (e.g., using OpenCV, MediaPipe, Tkinter/PyQt).
• AI/Computer Vision: Experience with hand-tracking and gesture classification (e.g., MediaPipe, TensorFlow).
• UI/UX Design: Ability to create a straightforward, user-friendly interface.
• Basic PJM Knowledge: Familiarity with Sign Language to ensure accurate gesture mapping (can be learned during development).
