Need special application to integrate with PC running Ubuntu.

We have a PC device running Ubuntu that I want to see if it’s possible to connect an external input to trigger various on “Buttons” on the touchscreen. Currently having to manually with the finger press and toggle on and off buttons as needed. Want to find out if we can send a command (?) that will allow the pressing of a physical momentary switch that will replicate a touch of the screen. Can discuss more in detail if this is feasible and or possible.
