Need a small change to existing Python script

I had a developer create a script to extract data from a web site.
One of the fields (Primary key) "Horses" looks up Racehorse records however some of the records have duplicate names and are identified by () after the Horse name. I need the script changed so it ignors anthing after the name which has brackets ()

I imagine this should only take an experianced developer a few minutes and as such I will pay £30 for the fix if it works.
