Modifying Python code to work with AWS DynamoDB

I have python code used in AWS lambda environment that interacts with DynamoDB. I'm looking to modify the code to restore functionality, but I do not know Python well (or interactions with boto/dynamoDB). I can code some in VBA and SQL and can somewhat understand code language, but do not know all the proper syntax in order to modify properly. Freelancer must know lambda interactions with DynamoDB. I will get on a teams call with freelancer and we can modify code, review logs, and test on my PC over screen share. Project should be less than 30 minutes to complete. I am on Chicago time in USA. I have attached a picture of the code portion that is causing an issue based on the logs.
