Modify python function

I have a function that creates features for training and it works fine. I need to modify/create a new one to generate a test set.
Note:
We have two dataframes, both have "HomeTeam" and "AwayTeam" as common columns
1.) Historical data
2.) Upcoming data
Task:
I want a function that takes Upcoming data as input, and produces same shape as x_test (x_train)
